Florida’s Latest Attempt to Criminalize Photography

Florida recently passed cs/sb 1246, a bill that originally sought to make it a felony to photograph a farm even if you were on public lands.

The Spiritual Malady: A Hole in the Soul Sobriety Guides

I’m a dedicated advocate for patients, fostering cultural awareness and emphasizing the importance of quality healthcare. My commitment to continuous learning and collaboration makes me an asset to the healthcare community. Let’s connect to share our experiences and insights. Once we indulge in the first drink, our judgment and normal concerns are skewed. We share the following article from Mike L of the “Carry the Message Group”, West Orange, NJ.

This is the type of spiritually maladapted behavior that we typically exhibit in active alcoholism. When not treating the spiritual aspect of the disease those behaviors are the types of things that will start to make life unmanageable once again. Anxiousness, depression, and boredom are a few other factors that contribute to being spiritually maladapted.

Evolving Spiritually

Through prayer, we tap into the ancient practice of communing with something deeper within us. Even if you feel nothing at first, prayer helps you to access a glimmer of hope, a hint of light on the horizon. Prayer is also a way of reaching out for help and guidance, which is an act of self-love and healing in and of itself. Alternatively, if you feel suicidal, please reach out for support. There are so many skilled, caring, and compassionate people out there ready to help.

  • When left unresolved, a spiritual malady will continue to lead to restlessness, irritability, and discontentment.
  • Most of us have experienced scruples in our spiritual life and some of us have found them spiritually crippling.
  • There are many persons in recovery who are not interested in discussing or even hearing about spirituality.
  • This is the type of spiritually maladapted behavior that we typically exhibit in active alcoholism.
  • It is the emptiness we feel on such a deep level that we turn to self-medication in order to alleviate the sadness and despair that go hand in hand with.

The only solution to a spiritual malady definition is a spiritual awakening. Only once we open the spiritual channels and begin to accept a Higher Power into our lives can we hope to find a solution to our alcoholic condition. While a sense of spiritual emptiness is an experience familiar to many people, it is extremely common for those who struggle with addiction.

Final Thoughts on Living the Spiritual Life and Recovery

If you are on social media, you can also find many groups and pages that are dedicated to grief. Simply look through grief-related hashtags (such as #griefsupport #griefjourney #griefrecovery) or search up grief-related pages. In fact, sometimes it’s a wiser choice to reach out to those who are intimately acquainted with grief and can adequately hold space for you. If you have a complicated relationship with those in your life, you might feel unsafe with them, which may be preventing you from reaching out.

Yes, it’s crucial to seek support from psychiatrists and therapists. But at the same time, it’s also essential to do some Soul-searching and work with yourself on a spiritual level. But complicated grief is not solely to do with the mind and heart, as those in the psychotherapeutic field would have you believe.

Journal about how you feel

Thoughts like we can eventually manage our lives while in active addiction. Doing so will give you a better idea of how a spiritual malady affects an alcoholic. Addiction is a spiritual disease because it represents an individual’s attempt to disconnect from reality and any sense of spirituality.

  • I wanted to die, I wanted the nightmare that is life to end.
  • Also, they cannot fathom how other people manage to deal with crises in life – even when they have it worse.
  • I experienced all of the above signs of Complicated Grief but I can now see that I’m at the other side of it.
  • Simply put, they feel a terrible loneliness at their very soul or center of being.
  • But for food addicts—because of their body’s “allergy” to sugar or processed foods—one Christmas cookie leads to a dozen.

It is a spiritual awakening to realize our attitude and outlook come from within and that we have the capacity to adjust them when we make a conscious choice to do so. Just because we may have had a shitty day thus far doesn’t mean that it has to continue in that direction. In sobriety, it is so important to maintain conscious contact with a higher power and count our blessings. Being spiritually maladapted can come from a lack of gratitude. We must live our lives selflessly and show our gratitude to a higher power for the lives that we live and the opportunity to have a second chance at life.
