Colorado’s Mesa Verde National Park was established in 1906 to protect the large number of Anasazi indian cliff dwellings that are in the area.  The particular cliff dwelling pictured here, Cliff Palace, is the largest cliff dwelling in North America.

Dead Horse Point State Park offers a spectacular overlook of a gooseneck in the Colorado River. Although commonly mistaken for the Grand Canyon this park is actually in Utah near the north entrance to Canyonlands National Park. This area was used for the end scene to the movie “Thelma and Louise”.

Located in the Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee, Grotto Falls is a particularly magical location. Nestled within an old-growth Hemlock forest, this waterfall has a delicate and secluded feel that is unmatched by many of the larger falls in the park.

House on Fire is one of many Anasazi indian cliff dwellings that are in Mule Canyon, a part of the Cedar Mesa plateau in southeastern Utah. Having never been excavated, the Mule Canyon ruins offer a rare opportunity to experience a set of ruins in an untouched natural setting, just as they have remained for hundreds of years.

This shot was taken by climbing halfway down a sea cliff near the tip of the Dingle Peninsula. Within a half hour of this shot being taken a fairly heavy storm came through which forced me to start heading north off of the peninsula.

Due to the fragile nature of this formation the Bureau of Land Management has limited visitors in this area to only 20 per day.

A large portion of the Irish coastline is very rugged in nature. This particular area is on the west coast where the Atlantic Ocean meets the rocky limestone shore of the Burren near the town of Doolin in County Clare.
